When you sign up to UserCrowd, you will be asked to set up your profile by providing us with some demographic information.

Our customers often target a specific demographic for their research so this information is used to determine which tests you will receive.

It's important that you answer these questions truthfully so that when you provide feedback on a test, you are accurately representing the target group requested by the researcher.

Setting up your tester profile

There are a number of demographic questions you can answer to complete your tester profile, and most of them are optional. The following information, however, is required to complete sign up:

  • Location—this is your current residential city or suburb. This may not necessarily be in your country of citizenship or nationality.

  • Language(s) spoken—only select languages in which you are fluent. You can list multiple languages if you speak them all fluently.

  • Year of birth—you must be over 18 to participate in our platform.

  • Gender—select the option with which you identify.

  • Education—your highest level of education completed.

  • Employment status

  • Annual household income (in $USD)—you may select "Prefer not to say" if you do not wish to share this information.

  • Daily hours online

  • Technical proficiency

❗If you are visiting another country for longer than a few weeks you may need to update your location to avoid being temporarily suspended from receiving tests. If you are traveling and notice that you are not receiving as many tests as you normally would, get in touch with us.

Required questions will be starred as below. You'll need to click through each category to ensure you've answered all required questions before you can complete your profile setup.

Profile strength

Your Profile strength represents the percentage of available demographic questions that you have answered. Except for the required demographic information mentioned above, questions in your profile are optional—you can answer as many or as few as you like. If you don't want to answer a question, just select "I'd prefer not to say." This will count towards your profile strength and will no longer be highlighted as unanswered.

You can answer any unanswered profile questions directly from your dashboard:

Once you have answered all profile questions, this block will disappear from your dashboard—if you don't see it there, your profile is 100% complete.

Making profile changes

If any of this information changes, you can access your profile from your settings:

Make any updates needed to accurately represent your current status. Your selections will automatically be saved for you as you update each demographic.

Updating your account details

You can change your name or the email address associated with your UserCrowd account from within your Account settings from the settings drop-down menu.

This is also where you'll need to add the email address associated with your PayPal account in order to receive any payouts:

You cannot update your phone number once your account is verified. We don't use your phone number for anything other than SMS verification when you sign up or change the country listed on your profile. There is no need to update this if your phone number changes.
